The Church of the Holy City reading group meets weekly except during the summer months.  The meetings are informal and last about an hour and a half.  The group chooses a book that lends itself to discussion of spiritual issues.  Each week, participants read ahead one chapter and a discussion leader puts forward a series of questions to the group about the week’s reading.

Last spring, we read a 2014 book, One Simple Idea: How Positive Thinking Reshaped Modern Life by Mitch Horowitz. In it, the author traces the roots of the positive thought movement and how it has influenced modern religious thought of figures like Joel Osteen and TD Jakes, cognitive therapies for neuroses, and twelve step programs.

The group is open to all persons interested in the role of spirituality in modern life.  If you are interested in getting involved in the fall session or want more information, contact Rev. Rich Tafel at revtafel@holycitydc.org.

THE READING GROUP MEETS EVERY MONDAY AT 6:00 PM
